Better Oblivion Community Center is an American indie rock duo formed after singer-songwriters Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst met in Los Angeles in 2016. Both artists had already started successful careers by this time, Bridgers as a solo act and also participating in the supergroup Boygenius, while Oberst led the indie band Bright Eyes. After touring together with Bridgers’ solo debut album “A Stranger in the Alps” (2017), the duo started recording their own eponymous full-length debut, which went out in 2019. This album featured the talents of Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jack White’s drummer Carla Azar, Anna Butterss, and Dawes’ members Wylie Gelber and Griffin Goldsmith. In 2019 the band also made an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
