Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Bio

Originating in Cleveland, Ohio, Bone Thugs N Harmony is a group comprised of rappers Krayzie Bone (Anthony Henderson), Layzie Bone (Steven Howse), Bizzy Bone (Bryon Anthony McCane II), Wish Bone (Charles Scruggs, Jr.) and Flesh-N-Bone (Stanley Howse.) Rapper Eazy-E signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993 where they released the EP Creepin on ah Come Up (1994) which included their breakout hit single “Thuggish Ruggish.” Beats were supplied by DJ Yella, Rhythum D and Kenny McCloud, and it was also the group’s first collaboration with newcomer producer DJ U-Neek.

When Eazy-E died on March 26, 1995, the group feared they would lose the support of their label, yet their potential was obvious and Ruthless Records continued to support them. In 1995 they released their second album E. 1999 Eternal featuring the single “Tha Crossroads” which reached #1 on both the Hot 100 and Hot Rap Tracks charts. E. 1999 Eternal is the group’s most commercially successful album, it has since been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA. In 1996 the group established their own Mo Thugs Records and released the Mo Thugs Family Scriptures compilation album to introduce many of the other artists they were developing.

After the success of E. 1999 Eternal, Bone Thugs N Harmony began to experience turmoil within the band. At various times, one or more members left to focus on their solo careers, yet during this period, they released several more albums including The Art of War (1997), Thug World Order (2002), Strength & Loyalty (2007) and Uni5: The World’s Enemy (2010.) Their most recent album, The Art of War: World War III, was released on December 10, 2013 but was reported to feature only three of the five original members.
