With a career spanning almost three decades, and a thirst for creativity, Busta Rhymes is much more than just a rapper.  Trevor George Smith, Jr., was born in 1972 in Brooklyn, New York, to Jamaican parents.  He would rap battle with schoolmate Jay Z at Westinghouse High School.  Forming the hip-hop group, Leaders of the New School, allowed him to open for the popular group Public Enemy.  The group released three albums under Elektra records, but Rhymes’ voice was prominent, and he began making guest appearances on the albums of Big Daddy Kane, A Tribe Called Quest, and KRS-One.  Rhymes has released nine albums from 1996-2012, and has acted in more than ten feature films.  He has been nominated for more than ten Grammy Awards for his solo career.  Most recently, he signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment and plans an album release.
