Carli Lloyd is an American soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, and 2015 FIFA Player of the Year. She currently plays for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League. Lloyd has the distinction of being the first person to score three goals in a FIFA Women’s World Cup final, and the second player in history to score a hat trick in any senior FIFA World Cup Final, after Sir Geoff Hurst. In college, Lloyd played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and then for a variety of New Jersey teams including New Brunswick Power, South Jersey Banshees, and the New Jersey Wildcats. She has played in two-hundred and twenty matches for the US national team, and has scored over eighty goals.
