Daniel Barenboim (who’s nicknamed Danny) is an Argentine pianist and music director who was born on November 15, 1942 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was born and raised in Buenos Aires, taking lessons from his mother Aida when he was five years old. Daniel rose to fame for his contributions and associations to some of the best-known symphonic and operatic orchestras. He gave his first concert when he was seven years old back in Buenos Aires. He became the General Music Director of Milan’s La Scala, the Berlin State Opera, and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Daniel also conducted the 2009 Vienna New Year’s Concert. He is the first Israeli to be granted honorary Palestinian citizenship which he accepted in 2007. He is best known for his work on Heartbeats (2010), Heartbreaker (2010) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).
