Darcey Bussell Bio
Darcey, Dame Andrea Bussell, DBE (born Marnie Mercedes Darcey Pemberton Crittle on April 27, 1969) is a retired English ballerina and former judge on the BBC television dance competition Strictly Come Dancing.
Bussell began her professional career at Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet, but after only a year, she went to the Royal Ballet, where she became a major dancer at the age of 20 in 1989. Bussell is regarded as one of Britain's greatest ballerinas.
Bussell spent her entire career with The Royal Ballet, which spanned more than two decades, but she also appeared as a guest artist with a number of prestigious companies, including the New York City Ballet, La Scala Theatre Ballet, and the Kirov Ballet.
