Dee-1 Bio
David Arnold Augustine Jr., better known by his stage name Dee-1, is a rapper born on April 10, 1989, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dee began rapping in college, where he became popular on campus for his performance. He also self-released a few mixtapes during this time. Upon graduation, Dee continued working on his music while simultaneously working as a middle school teacher. In 2010, he left his career as a teacher to focus on his growing music career. In 2009, he released his first studio, independent album, David & Goliath. After signing with RCA Inspiration in 2013, Dee released his EP, 3’s Up. In 2017, he released his first studio album under an imprint, Slingshot David. Dee has collaborated with Lupe Fiasco, Macklemore, and Sevyn Streeter. In 2021, Dee was nominated for Outstanding Daytime Non-Fiction Special at the Emmy Awards for his work on The Manhattan Project.
