Derek Charles Blasberg is an American writer and television personality who was born on April 22, 1982, in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended New York University, where he majored in dramatic literature and journalism, and while attending college, he worked at Elite Model Management writing biographies for models. In 2004, he got his first job at Vogue as an assistant. He has written articles for various publications, such as Vogue, The New York Times, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and W. Nowadays, Blasberg is the head of fashion and beauty partnerships at YouTube, a Vanity Fair contributor, and a senior staffer at the Gagosian Gallery. He also works as a fashion editor, and has worked together with widely recognized people, such as Marilyn Minter and Karl Lagerfeld, and has been a consultant on creative projects for popular fashion brands, such as H&M, Chanel, MAC, Carolina Herrera, and Louis Vuitton.
