Didi Gregorius Bio
Baseball shortstop, Mariekson Julius ‘Didi’ Gregorius was born on 18th February 1990 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His after, a professional baseball player, influenced him in his early years. He started playing youth baseball and tee-ball at 5. He was noticed by MLB scouts when he was a teenager but he chose to play for the Reds. After a chronic kidney malfunction, he missed two months of the season. In 2012, he made his major league debut. In the following season, he was traded to Arizona. The turning point in his career came in 2014 when he was picked by the Yankees to replace Derek Jeter. His batting improved with the Yankees and in 2019, his postseason grand slam helped the Yankees secure a position in the 2019 American League Championship. Gregarious has also played for the Dutch national baseball team at the Baseball World Cup and the World Baseball series. After defeating Cuba in the gold medal match, he received an honorary knighthood along with his teammates.
