Djavan Caetano Viana (who’s popularly known as Djavan) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter who was born on January 27, 1949 in Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil. He was born and raised in Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil. Djavan rose to fame as one of the most successful artists to sing in Portuguese. His 1999 Ao Vivo which appeared in two volumes sold over 1.2 million copies and won him his first Diamond Record. He also received three Multishow prizes for Best CD, Best Show and Best Singer. In 2000 Djava won a Grammy for Best Brazilian Song with Acelerou at the first Latin Grammy Awards. He was also nominated in the 2016 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Portuguese Language Song, and Best Singer-Songwriter Album. Stevie Wonder also played in his 1982 album Luz.
