Making waves as the first beatboxer in the rap community, Doug E. Fresh (born Douglas E. Davis) is also a rapper and record producer. He was a featured beatboxer on three albums with the Get Fresh Crew - Oh, My God! (1986), The World’s Greatest Entertainer (1988), and Doin’ What I Gotta Do (1992). The singles, ‘The Show,’ and, ‘La Di Da Di,’ were voiced by both Fresh and MC Ricky D, propelling them into stardom, and are still relevant today as hip-hop classics. In 2010, Fresh joined the rap group Cali Swag District and trademarked dance moves with the hit, ‘Teach Me How to Dougie.’ Other ventures include the opening of his own restaurant, Doug E.’s Chicken and Waffles; the opening of his club, Flesh; and being a spokesperson for the Hip-Hop Public Health Education Center in Harlem, NY.
