María Emilia Mernes, known as Emilia, is an Argentinian singer and songwriter. She was born in Nogoyá, Entre Ríos on October 29th, 1996. Emilia got involved in the artistic world by the age of 12, when she decided to take up theater lessons and learned to play the guitar. Mernes enjoyed publishing her own song covers to social media. This caught the eye of Fer Vázquez, Rombai’s cumbia pop band leader. She then joined the Uruguayan band in 2016 as the lead female singer. The band released the album "De Fiesta" and went on tour multiple times to Latin America. In 2018, Mernes left the group to start her solo career, which began in March, 2019, when she signed with Sony Music Latin. Her first single, “Recalienta”, managed to rank 68 on Billboard Argentina Hot 100, and its music video reached almost 7 million reproductions on YouTube. Mernes continues to release music to this day, releasing songs like “... No Soy Yo” featuring Darell, and “Como Si No Importara”, featuring Duki.
