Emmanuel Jal is an actor, musician, and activist. He was born on 1st January 1980 in Tonj, South Sudan. His career has been majorly defined by his mother country Sudan, which has been in constant feuds that compelled him to live the life of a child soldier. He believes that the ongoing struggles in his country inspired him to become a major recording artist.
He currently enjoys global acclaim as an artist, with a significant section of his fan base relishing his outstanding hip-hop style. His hip-hop music mainly focuses on peace and reconciliation, and he admits having drawn inspiration to sing those songs from the struggles in Sudan. He has been privileged to make live appearances in major events, including Nelson Mandela's 90th Birthday concert and Live 8. Another great moment for him was performing at the Dalai Lama’s linked event known as One Concert. Aside from his musical side, he has also been in great demand as a public speaker. He has made addresses in the Carter Center, UN Congress, and more.
