Floating Points is the stage name of English electronic musician and record producer Sam Sheperd. He was born and raised in Manchester, and his interest for music started at a young age, and he studied piano at Chetham’s School of Music. His musical project has taken different shapes, and it has performed with sixteen musicians as the Floating Points Ensemble, which together won an Award for Best BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session. He released his first album in 2015, under the title “Elaenia” through his own label Pluto. The album was freely inspired by David Eagleman’s novel “Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives”. It was very well received among the critics, getting an average score of 85/100 based on different magazine reviews. In 2017, he released his second album called “Reflections- Mojave Desert” and two years later he released his third album “Crush”. On the same year, he released the compilation album “Late Night Tales: Floating Points” which features Sarah Davachi, Azimuth and Max.
