Frenkie de Jong is a professional soccer player born in Arkel, Netherlands, on May 12, 1997. He spent his youth career at ASV Arkel (2003–2005), RKC (2005–2009), and Willem II (2005–2015). He played two games for Willem II before joining Jong Ajax in 2015.
Frenkie was at Jong Ajax till 2017, appearing in 46 matches and scoring eight goals. He joined Ajax in 2016, winning the Eredivisie (2018/19) and KNVB Cup (2018/19). He played for Netherlands U15, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams. He represented the Netherlands at the 2019 UEFA Nations League. The team emerged as runner-up.
The midfielder currently wears the number 21 jersey for Barcelona. His accolades include Eredivisie Player of the Month, Eredivisie Player of the Season, UEFA Champions League Midfielder of the Season, and UEFA Nations League Finals Young Player of the Tournament. He has received the Johan Cruyff Trophy and the Premi Barça Jugadors. He won Copa del Rey with Barcelona in the 2020/21 season.
