Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha-Raw MBE is an award-winning English Actress born April 21, 1983, in England. She began acting in TV shows and movies after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, including roles in Doctor Who (released 2007), Larry Crowne (released 2011), and the short television series Undercovers (2010) and Touch (2010).
While just starting her career, Mbatha-Raw appeared in several television shows, including Bad Girls and Miss Marple, but her breakthrough role was when she made her acting debut in In 2005 in Romeo and Juliet. She acted as Juliet opposite Andrew Garfield as Romeo.
Mbatha-Raw continued her excellent performance in the movie Belle (2013), for which she won several awards, including the BIFA Award for Best Actress. Shortly after, she followed up the achievement with another ground-breaking role in the blockbuster movie Beyond the Lights, for which she won the award for best actress in 2014.
She currently has more than 40 award nominations, winning a sizable chunk of them.
