Gwen Rosemary Jorgensen is an American professional triathlete, born on April 25, 1986, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Olympic gold medalist started her sporting career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she swam and ran for the Badgers. She worked as an accountant before she entered triathlon competitions. Since then, Gwen has won 25 gold medals and 37 podium finishes. In 2014, she made history by being the first triathlete to win four WTS races in a row: London, Yokohama, Chicago, and Hamburg. She was a USA Triathlon's Triathlete of the Year for two consecutive years in 2013 and 2014, a 2014 and 2015 World Champion, and the 2016 Olympic Gold Medallist. In 2017, Gwen announced she is switching to marathon races. In 2021, she did not qualify for the 10.000 meters at the Oregon Trials and passed on the Tokyo Olympic Games.
