i_o is the stage name of Garret Lockhart, an American DJ, record producer and electronic musician, who also goes as Fawks. Lockhart began his career as a DJ and electronic music producer in the early 2010s, when he relocated to Los Angeles. He trained at Icon Collective where he perfected his musical craft and he soon started performing as a DJ at local venues. In 2017, he got noticed by DeadMau5, who signed him to his label Mau5trap. Lockhart’s popularity rose and he became a very in-demand producer and DJ, performing at major festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Creamfields and Escape. In 2019 he started the “Project 444”, which consisted of a three-part conceptual album, each part consisting of a 4-track EP. Lockhart’s aim was to give each track enough time to tell a story. The project is focused on the history of electronic music, so the first EP “Acid 444” is inspired by the early age of techno. He released the second part of the project “NRG 444” in March 2020, with a sound more influenced by raves and hard dance vibes.
