James Yoshinobu Iha, known as James Iha, is an American guitarist and musical artist who performs alternative rock music. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on March 26, 1968.
Iha rose to prominence as the guitarist for the influential alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. With his distinctive guitar style and songwriting prowess, he played a pivotal role in shaping the band's sound during their formative years in the 1990s. His discography with The Smashing Pumpkins includes the hit singles “1979,” “Disarm,” Cherub Rock,” Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” and the albums “Siamese Dream,” “Monuments to an Elegy,” and “Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts.”
