Young Jeezy, born Jay Wayne Jenkins in Columbia, SC, is an American rapper associated with the hip-hop groups United Street Dopeboyz of America (U.S.D.A) and Boyz n da Hood. Young Jeezy has released five albums with Def Jam and CTE World records, starting with 2005’s Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, which is certified Platinum. Jeezy’s second album, The Inspiration, is also certified Platinum, and his next two albums are both certified Gold. Prior to signing with Def Jam, Young Jeezy released albums under the name Lil J and with Boyz n da Hood, whose self-titled debut album reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 charts. His collaboration album with United Street Dopeboyz of America, 2007’s Cold Summer, hit number 1 on Billboard’s US Rap and US R&B charts.
Jeezy won the 2007 Ozone Award for Album of the Year for The Inspiration, the 2008 Ozone Award for Best Rap/R&B Collaboration for “Love in This Club” (with Usher), and the 2010 BET Viewer’s Choice award for “Hard”.
