James Joseph Harbaugh, better known as Jim Harbaugh, is an American retired professional football player and coach who played as a quarterback in the NFL. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, United States, on December 23, 1963.
Jim spent his formative years playing for Palo Alto Senior High School and the University of Michigan, and he turned professional in 1987 when he was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. He went on to represent the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Carolina Panthers.
His career highlights include NFL Comeback Player of the Year, 1995 Pro Bowl, and Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor. After his retirement in 2001, he began his coaching career the following year.
He has coached the University of Michigan, the Oakland Raiders, and a San Francisco 49ers team that featured NaVorro Bowman, Ahmad Brooks, Justin Smith, and Eric Reid.
