Jimmy Kimmel Bio

James Christian Kimmel, A.K.A. Jimmy Kimmel, was born on November 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York. He started out as a host on various local radio shows and finally landed his first paying radio gig in 1989. In 1997, he starred opposite Ben Stein on Comedy Central’s Stein’s Money. His career took off from there.

Kimmel continued to work with Comedy Central, even writing the film Windy City Heat, which won him the award for Best Film at the Montreal Comedy Festival in 2004. He officially became famous for Jimmy Kimmel Live, which premiered on ABC in 2003. He invited the now-famous Sarah Silverman onto his show, and he also invited the majority of Hollywood A-listers to guest star. The show is still running and Kimmel has won or been nominated for several prestigious awards including Primetime Emmy Awards, People’s Choice Awards, PGA Awards, Writers Guild of America awards.

Kimmel states that he has been influenced mainly by David Letterman for both his humor and his success. Kimmel has appeared on numerous talk shows and he has also hosted several huge awards shows, including the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016 along with the Academy Awards ceremony in 2017. He is also set to host the Academy Awards ceremony in 2018.
