John Williams Bio

John Williams is without a doubt the most famous classical composer of our time, with a career spanning six decades. Born the son of a jazz musician, his family moved to California where he studied under the composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco at the University of California, later moving back to New York to train at the illustrious Juilliard School under composer Rosina Lhévinne.

Back in L.A., Williams worked first under legendary composer Henry Mancini before composing film scores for the most legendary directors of the 20th century, from Alfred Hitchcock to Stephen Spielberg, and from the “Star Wars” franchise to the “Harry Potter” franchise. His sweeping scores and booming orchestral pieces have made each film a piece of Hollywood Magic and given many timeless characters a magical theme. A list of his awards alone would fill a book, among them five Oscars, two Emmys, Three Golden Globes, six Saturns, seven BAFTAs,
