Jon Stewart Bio

Jon Stewart was born on November 28, 1962 in New York City. He started his career in stand-up and performed regularly at the Comedy Cellar. From there, he got a job as a writer for Caroline’s Comedy Hour in 1989. His career really took off after an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman in 1993, from which he developed The Jon Stewart Show. He guest hosted The Late Late Show regularly before hosting The Daily Show in 1999, which earned him 20 Primetime Emmy Awards as a writer or producer. The show received a Grammy in 2005.

In 2012, Stewart took a hiatus to direct the movie Rosewater. After leaving The Daily Show in 2015, he signed a contract to produce a project with HBO, which was later canceled. He has also released several books and read several audiobooks. He also acted in various roles, such as Playing by Heart, Wishful Thinking, Since You’ve Been Gone, Doogal, Wordplay, Half Baked and Death to Smoochy. He has also had television roles in Sesame Street, The Nanny, Spin City, The Simpsons, American Dad! and NewsRadio.
