Kate Miller-Heidke is an Australian actress, singer, and songwriter born on November 16, 1981 in Gladstone, Queensland. Despite being trained as a lead opera vocalist at the Queensland Conservatorium, she opted to make a pop career for herself. In 2000, she, along with other musicians from Brisbane, formed a band called Elsewhere. By 2002, they were able to release their debut self-titled EP, but in 2004, they decided to break up. That year, Miller-Heidke released her first solo effort entitled Telegram. At that time, she was also actively participating in annual Women in Voice showcase and for it she won the 2005 Helpmann Award for Best Performance in an Australian Contemporary Concert. In 2007, she released her first LP Little Eve. Since then, she has released Curiouser (2008), which peaked at number 2 on the ARIA charts; Nightflight (2012), which also peaked at number two; and O Vertigo! (2014), which peaked at number four.
