Kenny Rogers Bio

Kenneth Donald Rogers was an American singer, record producer and entrepreneur born on August 21, 1938, in Houston, Texas, United States. He sold over 100 million records and mastered multiple genres including jazz, country, pop and rock. A legend who raised a global profile with his extraordinary talent and committed diligence to his craft, had quite a humble beginning. He acquired a talent for music while playing a rock band The Scholars during his senior year at high school. Rogers switched between different bands and groups before rising to fame in the 70s with his songs peaking on country charts. His biggest breakthrough came with his single “Lucille” in 1977. It peaked number 1 on pop charts in 12 countries elevating his career to new heights. In the late 1970s, Rogers collaborated with famed country star Dottie West and produced several number 1 hits and award-winning albums. By then, he had cemented his success with the country audience. He went on to collaborate with the likes of Kim Carnes, Lynda Carter, Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, James Ingram, making chart-topping country hits. During his stellar career, he was crowned with numerous awards including 3 GRAMMY Awards, 19 American Music Awards, 11 People’s Choice Awards, 8 Academy of Country Music Awards, 6 Country Music Association Awards and many more.
