Kevin Meade Williamson is a screenwriter, director, and producer born on March 14, 1965, in New Bern, North Carolina, USA. He is best known for writing the successful film I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). He is an alumnus of East Carolina University. He attended a class at UCLA on screenwriting. His first script was Killing Mrs. Tingle, renamed Teaching Mrs. Tingle.
Kevin wrote the screenplay for the genre-reviving horror movie Scream, released on December 20, 1996. In 1996, he received the Saturn Award for Best Writing for Scream. In addition, he created the hour-long drama Dawson's Creek (1998-2003), a semi-autobiographical series. His directorial debut was with the comedic thriller Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999).
Kevin wrote The CW's Vampire Diaries (2009-17). In 2011, the long-awaited Scream 4 was released. His credits include I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), Wasteland (1999), Hidden Palms (2007), and Tell Me A Story (2018). He has appeared on Eli Roth's History of Horror. Kevin has won four awards and has been nominated for three others.
