Kirk Franklin Bio
Kirk Franklin is an American gospel singer, songwriter, musician, choir director, and author born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 26, 1970. He is known for leading the gospel choirs One Nation Crew, The Family, and God’s Property. Franklin started playing piano at four years old and quickly became proficient, being able to read, write, and play music by ear. He joined his church choir and became the music director at eleven years old. In 1992, he formed the choir The Family, which eventually became Kirk Franklin & The Family. Together they released three studio albums and two collaboration albums with the vocal ensemble God’s Property. In 2000 Kirk Franklin & The Family Disbanded and Kirk became a solo artist. In 2002 he released his debut solo album titled The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin. He has since released the albums Hero, The Fight of My Life, Hello Fear, Losing My Religion, and Long Live Love. Throughout his career he has been nominated for numerous awards and has won 13 Grammy Awards, 23 Stellar Awards, 16 Dove Awards and more.
