Lauren Mayberry Bio

A well-known pop singer, Lauren Mayberry was born on October 7th, 1987 in the town of Thornhill, Scotland. She was a member of several local bands and played keyboards and drums while she was attending University of Strathclyde, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism and law. She began her career by releasing a cover of the song "Killing in the Name," which was initially performed and recorded by Rage Against the Machine and featured Zack de la Rocha as a member of that band. Mayberry is best known for her role as the lead singer of the techno pop band Chvrches, however, she has also contributed vocals to a number of singles and extended plays recorded by the groups Blue Sky Archives and Boyfriend/Girlfriend. Late in 2013, her debut studio album with Chvrches, titled The Bones of What You Believe, was made available. Additionally, she established TYCI, a feminist organization with its headquarters in Glasgow.
