Lianne La Havas Bio

Singer Lianne La Havas was born Lianne Charlotte Barnes on August 23, 1989 in London. She began singing at age seven, and her father played various instruments. He taught her piano and guitar when she was growing up. La Havas wrote her first song at eleven. She attended Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College for Girls, but eventually dropped out to pursue a music career.

She began her career by singing back-up vocals for Paloma Faith and created “The Paris Parade” with Christian Pinchbeck. Warner Brothers signed her in 2010, and her first EP, “Lost & Found,” was released in October 2011 followed by the EP, “Live from LA,” that same year. She performed on BBC’s “Later….with Jools Holland” in support of the EP releases and met Bon Iver. She signed on to open for them on the North American leg of their tour in December 2011. Her debut single, “Lost & Found,” was released in April 2012, followed by her debut album release in July 2012. The album “Is Your Love Big Enough?” was named the 2012 iTunes Album of the Year and peaked at number four on the UK Albums chart and number one on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. La Havas performed at numerous festivals in 2013 including Rockness, the Glastonbury Music Festival, the Isle of Wight Music Festival, and opened for Alicia Keys at MTV Crashes Manchester. She was nominated for Best Female Artist and Best R&B/Soul Act at the 2013 MOBO Awards. After meeting Prince, she was featured on his September 2014 album, “Art Official Age.” She also performed with him on “Saturday Night Live.” In August 2015, she released her second album, Blood,” which debuted at number 52 on the Billboard Top 200 and number two on the UK Albums chart.
