Magnus Walker (born 1967 in Sheffield, England) is a fashion designer, style icon, automobile enthusiast, and owner of one of the world’s most astonishing collections of Porsches.
Walker took interest in cars the first time he set his eyes on a Porsche 911 at age 10, at the Earl’s Court Motor Show in London. Following the show, he wrote to Porsche asking for a job designing sports cars soon after, and received a polite decline asking him to “give us a call when you get older.”
Following this magical experience, Walker went on to pursue his interest in design. He dropped out of school in 1982, went to the United States for a summer job in Detroit, and consequently moved to California in 1986. He started selling customized jeans for $25 each, opening a stall on Venice Beach, a brand which would go on to become the go-to outfitters for Madonna, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper. Soon after, Walker began collecting Porsche, modifying his car's bodies, tuning their engines, installing bespoke parts, and painting them in custom colors.
He rose to fame in 2012 after being featured in the short documentary, Urban Outlaw. In 2017, he published his book called, Urban Outlaw: Dirt Don’t Slow You Down—an autobiography that documented how he made his way from the blue-collar British city of Sheffield to glitzy southern California.
