Mary Mary Bio

Mary Mary is a Grammy winning American contemporary gospel duo consisting of sisters Erica Atkins-Campbell (April 29, 1972) and Trecina Atkins-Campbell (May 1, 1974). The duo formed in their hometown Inglewood, California in 1998 where the sisters were featured on the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack in the same year. The siblings single, ‘Let Go, Let God’ was used in the Prince of Egypt soundtrack also in 1998. Columbia Records eventually signed the duo and released their single, ‘Shackles (Praise You) which landed on the Top Ten R&B charts. Mary Mary released their debut album ‘Thankful’ in 2000 which became popular amongst young Christian audiences. ‘Thankful’ then went on to win a Grammy for the Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album. Following their first success, Mary Mary released their second album, ‘Incredible’ which peaked at the number one spot on the Gospel Albums Chart and was later certified gold. In 2005, the duo released a self titled album, ‘Mary Mary’, which was the second Grammy nomination the duo received. In 2008, after both sisters became mothers, they released ‘The Sound’ which was again Grammy nominated for the Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album. The duo also won a Grammy that year for their single, ‘Get Up’ for Best Gospel Performance. Mary Mary became one of the most popular gospel artists and received another Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Album with their 2011 release, ‘Something Big’. Moreover, in 2012, Mary Mary was Grammy nominated for their single ‘Go Get It’ for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance. Along with their successful music career, the duo also starred in their own reality TV series, ‘Mary Mary’. According to Erica Campbell’s twitter, Mary Mary will release new music in 2020.
