Matthew Perry Bio

Matthew Perry is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, and playwright born in Williamstown, Massachusetts on August 19, 1969. He is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC television show Friends from 1994 to 2004. At 15 years old he moved from Ottawa, Canada to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career. While still in high school he would do improv comedy at the LA Connection in Sherman Oaks. He made his debut on television in 1979 in the show 240-Robert and continued landing roles in the shows Not Necessarily the News, Charles in Charge, Dream On, Sibs, Friends, The West Wing, Mr. Sunshine, Go On, The Odd Couple and more. In 1988 he made his debut in film in the movie A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and has since had roles in the films Getting In, Fools Rush In, Three to Tango, Serving Sara, The Whole Ten Yards, Numb, 17 Again, Birds of America and others. Perry was the co-creator, co-writer, executive producer and star of the show Mr. Sunshine which premiered in 2011 and ran until 2012. In 2016 he made his playwriting debut when his play The End of Longing made its debut at West End and the Playhouse Theatre. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won two Gold Derby Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Huading Award and more.
