Method Man Bio

Method Man, real name Clifford Smith, is a Long Island-born rapper who gained fame as a founding member of legendary East Coast hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. With his own solo track on their classic debut Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Method Man established himself as a standout member from the start. He signed with Def Jam shortly after, and released his debut album, Tical, with the label. The album went platinum, and featured the single “All I Need.” The song would later be remixed by singer Mary J. Blige, for which he won his first Grammy. At the end of the ‘90s, he formed a duo with fellow Def Jam signee Redman. As Method Man & Redman, they released their first album, Blackout! to critical acclaim. He continued to release studio albums and mixtapes throughout the 2000s, including Tical 0: The Prequel in 2004, and The Meth Lab as recently as 2015.
