Michael Paul Beasley Jr. is an American professional basketball player born on January 9, 1989, in Prince George’s County town of Cheverly, Maryland. As a teenager, he played for one of the country’s most successful AAU youth teams, the PG Jaguars, and won multiple national championships. Beasley also played AAU ball for DC Assault’s 17 & Under team with players such Ron Anderson, Nolan Smith, Austin Freeman, and Julian Vaughn among others. He plays for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Declared as being one of the greatest freshman college basketball players of the 2000s, he played for Kansas State Wildcats for one year, before joining the NBA on April 14, 2008. Beasley along with Bob Boozer gained first-team all-American honors from the Associated Press. He was also nominated as being the National Freshman of the Year by four organizations, including CBS Sports.com, Rivals.com, The Sporting News, and U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), and was one of the 10 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year award.
