Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah, better known as Mo Farah, is a Somali-born British runner, born on March 23, 1983, in Mogadishu, Somalia. He is known as the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history, winning two consecutive Olympic gold medals in both the 10,000 and 5000 meters races in 2012 and 2016.

After the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, he became the second man, after Finland’s Lasse Virén, to win those races in two consecutive Olympics. After the Olympics, he started running marathons. In his career, he has trained under several coaches, including Alberto Salazar and Gary Lough. The long-distance runner has won many accolades in his career, such as the European Athlete of the Year award, British Athletics Writers Association British Athlete of the Year, BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
