Monica Galetti (born August 26, 1975 in Samoa, New Zealand) is a chef most renowned for her prolific career and appearances on British reality television. She has hosted the BBC2 reality series MasterChef: The Professionals, and served as the sous chef at the London restaurant Le Gavroche.
After moving from her native Samoan home to study for a diploma in hospitality in Wellington, New Zealand, Monica flew to London to pursue a career in fine dining. She began working at Le Gavroche, a Two-Michelin-starred restaurant, in 2000 as a commis chef, and eventually became one of two sous chefs and the first ever woman to hold the position of senior sous chef at the restaurant. She made her television debut as a judge in 2009 on the BBC series MasterChef: The Professionals.
In 2012, she published her book Monica's Kitchen. In 2014, she contributed to the book Smile or Get Out of the Kitchen with Adam Handling. In 2015, she left Le Gavroche to pursue other career interests. She appeared alongside chef and fellow judge, Gregg Wallace, on MasterChef: The Professionals. In 2017 opened her own London restaurant, Mere, with her sommelier husband David Galetti, with a menu inspired by their home countries of France and Samoa.
