Mudhsuden Singh Panesar, widely known as Monty Panesar, is a former cricket player born on April 25, 1982, in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. He gained fame as a left-arm orthodox spinner. Monty made his Test debut in 2006 against India. He achieved his first five-wicket haul in just his sixth Test match, with figures of 5/78 against Sri Lanka.
Monty made his Ashes debut during the third Test at the 2006/07 Ashes in Perth, becoming the first English spinner to take five at the WACA (and eight in the match). In the historic 2012 Test series against India in India, Monty, along with Graeme Swann, helped the England team secure her first series win in India after 28 years.
Monty played for Northamptonshire from 2001 to 2009 and then again in 2016. He also had stints with Highveld Lions, Sussex, and Essex. He played a couple of Test matches in the 2013-14 Ashes series Down Under, before retiring from international cricket.
