Nelly Bio

Born in 1974, Nelly (Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.) is an American rapper born in Austin, Texas, USA. After releasing the song “Gimme What You Got” with the St. Lunatics, Nelly recieved his first taste of stardom when the single went to number one on the hip-hop charts in St. Louis. After this brief success, Nelly decided to go solo. After being signed with Universal, he debuted his album “Country Grammar” in 2000. The single by the same name became a smash hit and landed Nelly on the top three spot on the Billboard chart. He has released such albums as, Country Grammar (2000), Nellyville (2002), Sweat (2004), Suit (2004), Brass Knuckles (2008), 5.0 (2010), and M.O. (2013). He has won for favorite rap/hip-hop artists at the American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards top male artists and top rap artist, both in 2002. He has won three Grammy’s and two MTV Awards.
