Nikoloz Basilashvili is a professional tennis player born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on February 23, 1992. He began playing tennis at age five, making his professional debut in 2008. He attained the number 16 rank in May 2019 after reaching his first Grand Slam 4R at the 2018 US Open.
The number one Georgian tennis player has represented the country at the ATP Cup (2020 and 2022) and the Olympics (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020). Nikoloz defeated Juan Martín del Potro at 2018 Beijing, Alexander Zverev at 2019 Hamburg, and Roger Federer at 2021 Doha. Nikoloz upset Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach his first ATP Masters 1000 final at the 2021 Indian Wells, becoming the first Georgian since Irakli Labadze in 2004.
