Nomar Garciaparra Bio

Nomar Garciaparra is a retired baseball player who currently serves as a SportsNet LA analyst. He started his career in 1994 with the Red Sox after being selected in the first-round draft pick. He played for minor leagues for the club before making his MLB debut for the Red Sox in 1996 against Oakland. In 1998, he extended his contract with the Red Sox for a further five years. In 2004, he joined the Chicago Cubs. He later played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics.

He is also a six-time All-Star and was named the AL Rookie of the Year. In 1997, he won the AL Silver Slugger Award. Unfortunately, in 2001, he sustained injuries that saw him affected for the rest of his career. In March 2010, he penned a one-day contract with the Red Sox so he could retire as a member of the team. He later joined ESPN as an analyst on the Baseball Tonight show.
