Ons Jabeur Bio

Tunisian professional tennis player, Ons Jabeur was born on 28th August 1994 in Sousse, Tunisia. In 2008, she began to play for the ITF Women’s Circuit when she was 12.  In 2010 and 2011, she reached the finals of two major girls’ singles finals at the French Open. When she won the title in 2011, she became the first Arab to hold a major junior title since 1964. She played at the ITF level for close to a decade, before moving onto her WTA tour which began in 2017. In 2019, she was given the Arab Woman of the Year Award. She became the first Arab woman to reach the quarterfinal of a major tournament at the 2020 Australian Open and the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. In 2021, she became the first Arab Woman to win a WTA tour title with the Birmingham Classic. This was followed by the 2022 Madrid Open, making her the first Arab player to win a WTA 1000 event. She was ranked World No.2 by the WTA in June 2022.
