Rinko Kikuchi is an actress born on 6th January 1981 in Hadano, Kanagawa, Japan. She is best known for appearing in the psychological drama film “Babel”, for which she was nominated for the Oscars, becoming the first Japanese to receive a nomination for such an award. She began her career in 1999 with the comedy-drama film “Will to Live”. She appeared in the biographical film “By Player” a year later. In 2002, she was cast in the film “Mike Yokohama: A Forest with No Name” alongside Masatoshi Nagase.
In 2009, she appeared in Rian Johnson’s film “The Brothers Bloom”. Kikuchi also starred alongside Nobuyuki Katsube and David Zellner in the drama film “Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter”, for which she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress and Chlotrudis Award for Best Actress. She also appeared in the television series “Liar Game 2” in 2009, “Westworld” in 2018, “Ivasion” in 2021, and others.
