Rita Moreno Bio

Rita Moreno was born December 11, 1931 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her given name at birth was Rosita Delores Alverio. She is the first person to win an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Award. Her career began at eleven years of age doing voice-over work. She began acting on Broadway at thirteen years of age.

Her Broadway career includes roles in: Skydrift, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Gantry, The Ritz, The Odd Couple (female version), and The Glass Menagerie. She won a Tony Award for her role in The Ritz. She also won the Sarah Siddons Award for her role in the female version of The Odd Couple.

Her acting career begins in 1950 and goes to the present day. Her film credits include: So Young So Bad, The Toast of New Orleans, Pagan Love Song, Blue Moon, Pinero, and Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. She won an Academy Award for her role in West Side Story.

Her extensive television career includes television movies, guest appearances, and regular roles in television series. Her television guest appearances include: Father Knows Best, Bourbon Street Beat, Burke’s Law, Special Agent Oso, Welcome to the Family, Getting On, Jane the Virgin, Grey’s Anatomy, and Grace and Frankie. She won an Emmy Award for The Muppet Show and the Rockford Files.

 

Her television movies, miniseries, and television series include: The Electric Company, 9 to 5, Working, Portrait of a Showgirl, Where on Earth is Carmen Santiago?, OZ, The Spree, Resurrection, Copshop, Cane, Happily Divorced, Nicky Deuce, Old Soul, A Gift of Miracles, and One Day at a Time.
