Ronny Chieng Bio
Ronny Chieng is an actor and stand-up comedian. He was born on the 21st of November, 1985, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He started his career in 2009, as a stand-up comedian at local venues in Melbourne. In 2013, he got his first major breakthrough, when he performed alongside Trevor Noah at a comedy festival and was highly praised for his performance. His career took off and he started performing at major comedy festivals around the world, like the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal where he was invited in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Overall, he has toured in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Canada and London. In 2016, he co-created alongside Declan Fay, his own TV show “Ronny Chieng: International Student”, which won Short Film Production of the Year at the 16th Screen Producers Australia Awards. He has also written and played in several television shows like “Problems” in 2012, “Legally Brown” in 2014, Kinne in 2015, and more. In 2017, he joined the cast of “Crazy Rich Asians” and in 2019, Chieng released his first Netflix Stand-up Comedy Special, titled “Asian Comedian Destroys America!”.
