Ruth Negga is an Ethiopian-Irish actress and producer best known for her work in film and television. She was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on May 4, 1981. Ruth began her acting career in 2004 when she appeared in the film Capital Letters and the TV series Doctors. She has since had recurring roles in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Secret State, Love/Hate, The Nativity, Misfits, Criminal Justice, and Personal Affairs, but she is best known for starring in the adventure-fantasy series Preacher alongside Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun, Graham McTavish, and Julie Ann Emery. Ruth’s filmography includes Passing, Ad Astra, Warcraft, Loving, Breakfast on Pluto, and Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth. She won a Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role – Film.
