Ryan Gosling Bio

Ryan Gosling was born on November 12, 1980 in London, Ontario. He got his start at the age of 12 when he auditioned successfully for the revival of Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club. In 1995, he worked on television show Are You Afraid of the Dark and in 1996, he starred in Goosebumps. At age 18, he moved to New Zealand for the lead role in Young Hercules.

After Young Hercules, Gosling pursued film roles and gained a supporting role in the 2000 film Remember the Titans before landing the lead role in 2001’s The Believer, which garnered a great deal of praise. The film was later awarded the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.

Gosling gained worldwide attention in his role in The Notebook (2004), which cast him as a romantic lead for the first time along with Rachel McAdams. Gosling won an MTV Movie Award and four Teen Choice Awards for his role. He starred in the drama Blue Valentine in 2010 and expanded into comedy in 2011 with Crazy, Stupid Love, which scored him a Golden Globe nomination. He directed Lost River in 2014 after taking a break from acting. Gosling starred in The Big Short in 2015 and earned an Academy Award Nomination and a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role in La La Land (2016).
