Actress extraordinaire Salma Hayek, born September 2nd, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, studied International Relations in Mexico City at the Universidad Iberomericanan, but soon jumped into acting. Hayek first appeared in Un nuevo amanecer, but it was her role in Teresa that put her on the map. Hayek went on to appear in the award-winning El Callejon de los Milagros, and in Desperado alongside Antonio Banderas. Salma’s career speed up quickly with her appearing in a string of projects including Fools Rush In, Wild Wild West, In the Time of the Butterflies, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The talented actress produced and starred in Frida, which scored her an Oscar nomination and the award for Best Actress at the Imagen Foundation Awards. Stretching her talents, Salma was an executive producer, and appeared in the hit show Ugly Betty; and took on voice acting in the movie Puss in Boots. Hayek also enjoys directing, which she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children/Youth/Family Special for The Maldonado Miracle.
