Sawyer Brown is an American country music band formed in Apopka, Florida in 1981. The current members of the band are Mark Miller, Gregg “Hobie” Hubbard, Jim Scholten, Joe “Curly” Smyth, and Shayne Hill. The founding members of the band were originally members of the country singer Don King’s road band. After King retired in 1981 the band chose to stay together and formed Sawyer Brown. They competed on the television competition show Star Search and won. After winning the competition, they were signed with the label Capitol Records in 1984. That same year they released their debut studio album self-titled Sawyer Brown. They have since released the albums Shakin’, Out Goin’ Cattin’, Somewhere in the Night, Wide Open, The Boys Are Back, Buik, The Dirt Road, Cafe on the Corner, Outskirts of Town, This Thing Called Wantin’ and Havin’ It All, Six Days on the Road, Hallelujah, He Is Born and more. The band has released 18 studio albums, 5 compilation albums, and 1 live album. They have had over 50 songs chart on the Hot Country Songs chart and three number 1 singles. The band has won 6 TNN/Music City News Country Music Awards, 3 CMT Music Awards, an Academy of Country Music Award, and a Country Music Association Award.
