Mendes started playing the piano at a young age and became a professional musician in the early 1960s. is widely recognized for his distinctive blend of bossa nova, Latin jazz, and disco music, which has earned him multiple Grammy Awards and international acclaim. He gained global recognition with his band, Brasil '66, in the mid-1960s, with hits like Mas Que Nada and The Look of Love.
Over the years, Mendes has collaborated with numerous artists, including Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas, and Will.i.am, among others. His music has been featured in several movies, including Rio, Austin Powers, and The Simpsons Movie.
